Trust me, I have a big ole finger pointing at myself with that statement as well. Overcoming the spirit of fear is hard. However, it’s an absolute MUST to trust God’s word as truth. Read and pray over them until you gain peace.
Know Where The Root Of Fear Is Coming From
In all honesty, it’s not a matter of “IF” we will encounter fear but “WHEN” we encounter it. Even the disciples faced fear and what did they do? They turned to Jesus!

One day he got into a boat with His disciples, and He said to them, “Let us go across to the other side of the lake.” So they set out. Luke 8:22

10 steps On How to Overcome Fear In Life
1. trust God is with you always
When fear comes remember that God is always with you. The key point to keep in mind is that God has told you that he will never leave you nor forsake you.
Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6
2. Trust the Holy Spirit
When you are afraid you can trust in the Holy Spirit’s protection completely. To put it another way, God is for you so what can man do, right? Memorize the following scripture.
When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. Psalms 56:3
3. remain strong
Remember you shouldn’t be weak but courageous in trusting God. When you are afraid remember the assurance of knowing you are God’s chosen child.
Even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love. Ephesians 1:4
He predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will. Ephesians 1:5
4. Have a healthy fear of God…NOT man
Replace fear of man with good fear. When you fear God, you live in a way that reveres him instead of the fear of man.
Moses said to the people, “Do not fear, for God has come to test you, that the fear of him may be before you, that you may not sin.” Exodus 20:20
Fear ruled my life for so many years and what I’ve learned (the hard way) is it’s giving the fear to live rent-free, so to speak, in your mind. You must learn to face your fears head-on to release them.
5. pray for peace
Fear can get the best of you at times. Instead, ask God to send his peace to your heart and to silence the fears completely.
Fret not yourself because of evildoers; be not envious of wrongdoers! Psalm 37:1

6. name your fear
When fear is sneaking its way into your heart it’s important to understand to speak aloud what you’re fearful of. When you feel afraid, put a name on it and give it to God.
Keep a journal and write your fears in it. This will help to keep account of what you are afraid of so you can pray over it and give it to God.
7. monitor your thoughts
The spiritual war against Satan begins in your mind. Once you choose to trust God completely rest assured that spiritual warfare will come. Guard your thoughts and block the fears.

8. surrender your fear
Surrender your fears, one at a time by giving them to God by praying. Pray, “God, please take the fear of ___ from me. I give it to you.” Keep praying and fighting until the anxiety and fear release their grip.
And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? Luke 12:25
9. choose to not fear
Keep in mind it’s Satan’s job to keep your mind distracted from anything to grow the Kingdom of God. Fear is Satan’s biggest attack on your mind and he knows your pain points…Remember this!
10. remember God’s promises
Replace fear with the armor of God. Write down the scriptures of God’s protection found in the Bible. Read them aloud to yourself daily.
